In this book, the two young boys are best friends. Oddie is the sheriff and ends up kidnapping Gary. Gary’s grandpa went on a journey to find gold, and he discovered gold, and died on his adventure. He left the maps so they could go on the journey. Oddie stole the maps to find the gold but he has known about the gold for 37 years. He is the one that killed Gary’s grandpa.Then he kidnaps Gary and goes to find  the gold.

Petey is elderly and  gets picked on because he’s in a wheelchair. This kid named Trevor is like his brother but he’s not. He just takes care of him. Sissy is like Petey’s nurse and lets Trevor do fun stuff with him. This kid-I forgot what his name was- but he spun Petey around and he fell on the ground.Trevor went down to tell Petey to fake a seizure and they pulled it off. The next day, Trevor yelled at the kid. One week later,Trevor took Petey fishing and, believe it or not,  Petey caught more fish than Trevor. Trevor had made three thousands dollars just for a new wheelchair for Petey.

This book is an x and is about a boy named Paul that has to go live with his grandparents.  He makes a mistake that wasn’t really his fault. He was trying to stick up for his friend. I made a connection (text to text) between, Survivng the Applewhites and, A Hole in the World. These two books involve two boys that have trouble and go to a place where they both realize something that changes their lives. This boy named Paul and a dog named Einstein  love each other very much but a ghost comes and makes the dog run away. Who is this ghost and why is it haunting them?

She had to wash clothes untill her hands were raw and she made shirts. Her friend shaved her head for 6 shillings and a soldier stole the money. Then a boy ran up to her and pulled off her bonnet right in front of her parents. The punishment was to not wear a bonnet where ever she goes. That was really bad. This is a book about girl named Ida except she isn’t Ida at home! She is Ida B  she gets really upset when you even think about calling her real name Ida. She gets called that because her mother has the same name. So on the first day of school she is furious at her teacher because there is no nick names in her class room! This girl is so interesting she talks to trees and believes they have feelings! Except her mother comes down with cancer and gets really sick so they have to sell the farm with her precious trees streams and valleys. I hope everyone loves this book as much as i did!
